As the year winds down, we’re sure to be seeing a lot of looks back at 2010, including lists of the top events, stories and products of the last 12 months. Time magazine just revealed their choices for the best, worst and most notable of the past year, and Apple CEO Steve Jobs is in the running for Person of the Year. While Jobs faces some formidable competition, his iPad was a shoo-in for the number-one spot on Time’s list of Top 10 Gadgets.
Here’s what they said about the ground-breaking tablet: “It’s not the first touchscreen tablet in the history of computing, but it’s easily the most successful so far. With 3 million iPads sold in their first month alone and a market for interactive magazines and newspapers created almost overnight, Apple finally managed to make tablet computing cool.”
Following the iPad were the Samsung Galaxy S, 11-In. MacBook Air, Google TV Via Logitech Revue, Nexus One, iPhone 4, Apple TV, Toshiba Libretto Dual-Screen Laptop, Kinect and Nook Color. It’s not hard to notice that Apple took four of the top ten gadgets, while rivals’ netbooks, smartphones and gaming consoles were shut out.
Will 2011 be the year of the tablet, or will we see new innovations in smartphones? Of course, there could be something totally new on the horizon that we haven’t heard about yet!
